Perpendicular Lines using GeoGebra
Reflection: Through the computer program GeoGebra, I was able to show students how to create perpendicular lines. The students learned that this is a much more in depth process than just putting two lines that intersect on a graph. The students learned to take the radius of circles and create new plot points in order to get an exact line that is perpendicular to the original line. I found this activity to be very interesting because I did not expect a topic as simple as perpendicular lines to be so complicated. The program really allows you to see how perpendicular lines are made "behind the scenes". Yes, there is a perpendicular lines button on GeoGebra that will allow the program to simply plot two lines for you, but doing it manually and understanding how to create the lines is more rewarding and interesting.
