There are no restraints and no guidelines but only endless possibilities.
As a teacher of mathematics, it is important to promote a positive learning environment in your classroom. Students should feel comfortable asking questions and making predictions without the fear of being wrong. Making mistakes is a huge part of mathematics. Mistakes allow students to see exactly where they went wrong and what they can change in order to come to the correct conclusion. It is important that our students work together in order reach their mathematical potential. Unlike many subjects, mathematics is not a subject that should be practiced alone. Group work should be present in order for students to work with their peers and problem solve together. Students can use different strategies and learn from one another, which is a huge part of learning.

Some students prefer visual models; other students prefer to work with hands-on materials, while others enjoy doing math through auditory learning. As a teacher, it is important to implement all learning styles in order for your students to have the best chance at success. When I was growing up, I was not fortunate enough to have differentiated learning styles. My teachers were set in their ways and stood in front of the class reading from a textbook and putting example problems on the blackboard. I understand that this strategy would not work in today’s world of mathematics. Math has become too complex for standard teaching strategies.
